Craft show- done, Halloween- done, baby shower- done! Lots of things to fit all into one weekend! We had originally planned to go to the craft show on Friday but poor little Alex came down with a quick and ferocious stomach virus. The poor kid couldn't keep anything down all Friday morning, but Grama showed up with some gravol, and saved the day. By the time Dad came home with watermelon and strawberries (all for his princess) she was about 75%. She never really got a fever just had an upset tummy. But by Saturday morning she was good as gold and was able to make a whirl-wind trip to the craft show. This was the first year I went by myself, not including Alex, so there was a plan of attack and we got in, bought all we had planned, and was out in about an hour. OK I said bought all we planned including a beautiful blue blanket with adorable robots on it, for Joseph! I tried so so so hard to resist but in the end the cute little robots were calling my name "oh Danielle be a good mommy and buy me for your little boy!!" Damn those robots!! But on the plus side I'm 1/4 done my Christmas shopping and I'm sticking to my budget!!
So on Saturday night was the super exciting HALLOWEEN!!! Alex was practically vibrating all day cause she knew when Daddy got home from moving Auntie and Uncle that we were going to get candy! So I was all organized and ready at 4:00 for all the monsters and princesses to come knocking on my door. I waited and waited... And waited!! It was a beautiful day, over 10 degree's, and I figures the kids would get an early start seeing that it was Saturday. But we still hadn't gotten any kids and the streets were empty when Pat got home and we went out with Ally. So we went to a couple of our friends houses, then went to Sobey's to pick up some stuff, where Alex got a glow stick! Probably her favorite Halloween treat. We then took a quick trip out to see Papa and Grandma Bridge. They were very excited to see Alex's rendition of the "Trouble Cow"! See puts her hands up like claws and moo's like... well a pissed off cow! The really nice thing about this year is Alex was very excited and anxious to wear her costume. Last year she was almost scared of her costume and would only stay in it for a couple of minutes. This year she wore it for about 4 hours and was more than happy to do it. She got lots of candy, which Mom and Dad are more than happy to "test", and seemed ok that Halloween was over.
On Sunday was the baby shower. My two best friends, Lisa and Des, worked so hard and threw Joseph a beautiful baby shower! The games were hilarious! We had to race to chug a bottle of juice, through a bottle nipple. Richard, me & Pats best friend, won hands down. Originally Pat had invited his friends over to our house to drink beer and watch sports while the shower was taking place, but on Sunday morning he came down with the same stomach thing that Ally had, poor guy! So since Richard and his fiance, Danielle, were coming all the way from Edmonton I told Rich to come to the shower. The next game we played was so gross but so awesome! Lisa took different chocolate bars and mashed them into diapers and we had to correctly guess which "poop" was which. The sad thing was, when I looked at these "poops" I can remember seeing all of them at one time or another in Alex's diaper! So gross!!!
As soon as we all feel better Pat's gonna have to start on Joseph's room! It's been a very very busy fall. Pat has been so busy at work he can barely stand when he gets home around 6:00. It's good that he is busy at work, that means money for us, but a break now and then is always in order. And to make Joseph's room an actual room is actually a pretty big undertaking. When we moved into our house, 2 years ago, that room was used as a laundry room. So where there should have been a closet was wide open and that's where the washer and dryer sat. We had to have an electrician come in and run the correct wiring upstairs to what was supposed to have been the laundry room. So after that was done we turned that room into a spare room/office. Well that only lasted a year and we decided we wanted another baby, which is all Lisa's fault! (Everyone around me was getting pregnant and I could have cared less, but when she got pregnant last summer I really really wanted to have another baby! Plus she thought it would be great if we were pregnant together!) So, back to my story, we decided to move the computers to the dining room and all my scrapbooking stuff to the laundry room. And it actually works really well. We don't have allot of space but we are learning how to make the best use of it all.
So in order to finish Joseph's room, Pat has to actually build a closet. So he has to rip down all the drywall in the closet area and re-frame. Then I thought it would be a good idea to take some of the closet space and make a linen closet, cause there is not a single place to keep towels in our entire house!! So Pat had to get some advise from his very smart carpenter friend Eric. We've been trying for a month to get together with Eric and Amanda, but either we're sick or their sick lol. So more patience is in order on my part. And even though I have never been known for my patience I guess I will find some somewhere! ;)
I'll post some pictures from Halloween and the shower when I have a little more time ;)
