We call him Smokin' Joe for a reason!

Joseph had his 6 weeks check up today, a week early but our doctor is going on holidays. Dr. Keller confirmed what we've know all along, he's perfect! So perfect in fact that the little monster weighs 10lbs and 10oz!!! Average weight gain for a baby 0-6m is 4-7 ounces a week and Joseph is averaging 8.2 ounces! Even more astonishing is that he is measuring 23 1/2 inches tall!!! He has grown 2 3/4 inches in 5 weeks! Percentile wise, his height is in the 90th and his weight is 50th.

I was amazed that I have a chunky baby on my hands. I'm used to my skinny Minnie little girl not this huge rolie polie boy with dimples on his elbows!! But this does make me very proud because it means no worries that I'm not producing enough milk, or that he is just not getting enough. The only issue Mr. Joseph has is sensitive skin! He has a rash, which I thought was caused by heat but Dr. Keller said its probably from detergent. So I am rewashing all of his clothes, blankets, face clothes and towels. Anything that might have "accidently" got put in with the rest of the families laundry. Old habits die hard I guess ;)

Another wonderful moment happened last week. Well you might not thinks its wonderful but I sure do!! Joseph took a bottle! Not just 1 but many since then. We are trying to give him 1 a day, just to get him used to them. We didn't introduce Alex to a bottle early enough and she never took one, which meant poor Mom was tied to the little girl night and day. But since Joseph is a pro at the whole bottle thing, Mom can get a much needed break! In fact Mom and Dad are going to go to a movie next week!

We are not sure if we are just really good second time parents or is Joseph is a really good second baby. But we will take all the blessings, thank the lord for them and pray they continue.

Oh and since my e-mail no longer seems to like to send pictures that easily and my other attempts to share photo's have failed, I will be posting lots of pictures here and on facebook.
